From $1K to $300K, and Back Again
Basel turned $1,000 into $300,000 on an LLM memecoin — then revenge-traded most of it back. His lesson: take profits, don't get attached, and trade less.

Episode 02 features Basel — a veteran who’s traded through every cycle since the 2020 NFT boom, and once turned $1,000 into $300,000 before slowly giving most of it back.

About me
I’m Basel. I started trading on-chain around 2020, right when the NFT boom on Ethereum kicked off.
Since then I’ve gone through pretty much every cycle: NFTs on Ethereum, meme coins on Solana, back to NFTs, Ethereum meme coins, Ordinals, and eventually full-time Solana meme coin trading.
Me and GMGN
I’ve been using GMGN since around September 2025.
The features I use the most are wallet tracking and the on-chart signals. But my real edge wasn’t following the public KOL wallets — it was discovering side wallets, spotting patterns, saving them, and tracking them over time.
A lot of my trades got saved simply because I noticed important wallets entering or exiting early through the signals.
What I’d complain about
Honestly, my main complaint is battery consumption.
For anyone trading heavily on mobile, GMGN is genuinely one of the best trading apps out there — but it drains battery aggressively during long sessions.
On the feature side, I’ve suggested things in the past and the team has shipped a lot of them, so right now I don’t really have big asks.
The trade I remember most
Back in August 2025 there was a coin called Latina Language Models (LLM).
I started with around $1,000, and at one point the position was worth around $300,000.
What stuck with me wasn’t the gains — it was how that trade changed my psychology afterward. After the win, I started revenge trading and slowly gave most of it back.
That period taught me a lot: after a big win, your perception of money changes. Huge numbers stop feeling huge. You get overconfident and start treating risk differently without even realizing it.
What I changed
Since then I trade much less, much less emotionally, and much more selectively.
If I end the day green, that’s already a successful day.
One more thing: after a massive win, step away from the charts. You need a mental reset, otherwise your next trade is just paying the bill for the last one’s adrenaline.
Statistically, more trading ≠ more profit. Most meme coins are scams anyway, and overtrading catches up with you. Concentrated trades with patience have worked far better for me than chasing every new ticker.
My biggest change
The biggest lesson for me has been: learn to take profits, and don’t get emotionally attached to bags.
The moment you get attached to a coin, risk management breaks down — then comes regret, then resentment, then revenge trading, and eventually you blow up.
Detaching emotionally from positions was probably my single biggest turning point as a trader.
