The Night I Spent SOL Like Play Money — All the Way to Zero

@FatihaAbid woke up $60K richer once — and another night mashed SOL 'like play money' down to zero. Two extremes, plus why he loves Multi-Chain Trenches.

🎙️ GMGN User Stories · Episode 04 · A series where we listen to the people on the other side of the screen talk about how they actually trade.

Episode 04 features @FatihaAbid — a player who got in around 2024 and calls himself a grizzled old “leek” (the local term for a much-harvested retail trader). He’s had the windfall of buying a coin on a whim before bed and waking up $60K richer, and the sobering night of the papal conclave when he ground his entire net worth down to zero. One trade on tilt, one trade a lottery ticket — he tells you about both.

“The night of the papal conclave, I lost my entire net worth. I was tapping SOL like it was play money — mashing the button all the way to zero before I finally snapped out of it.”

About me

Hi, I’m @FatihaAbid. I started playing around 2024, and by now I count as a bit of a veteran “leek.”

Me and GMGN

I’ve been on GMGN for a good two years or so.

At first I traded through the Telegram web version. Back then I wasn’t great at trading on mobile and didn’t really make much money. It was only after I switched to a computer that I realized — GMGN is genuinely good to use, and I’ve been making money consistently.

Around the same time I also tried another trading site called BullX, but it wasn’t for me. GMGN just suits Chinese users better.

What I’d complain about

Honestly, there’s nothing in particular I want to complain about right now. If anything, what I’m most excited about is a new feature I’m already using — Multi-Chain Trenches. It’s the single most satisfying update I’ve had on GMGN.

The trade I remember most

I have two trades that really stuck with me — one that fell from the sky, and one that dropped through the floor.

The first was a lottery ticket from the sky. I was traveling in Shanghai at the time, and before bed I bought a coin on a whim. I was woken up in the middle of the night by a friend, only to find I’d already made $60K. Pure windfall.

That one taught me something: sometimes, when a coin has gone to zero, just don’t sell — leave it sitting there as a little lottery ticket.

The second was my wake-up call. The night of the papal conclave, I lost my entire net worth. I just kept tapping SOL, like I was mashing play money, all the way down to zero before it snapped me out of it.

Ever since, I haven’t dared to buy too much, and I don’t keep too much money on-chain — which matters a lot: it protects you both from getting hacked and from tilting your whole stack away in one go again.

My biggest change

The biggest change from when I started until now is that my capital has grown, and I’ve got the confidence to try different playstyles.

I’ve also become a lot stronger mentally.

And one rare thing — along the way, I’ve made some good friends.

My personal playbook / steal-my-homework section

The feature I’ve been using lately, and most want to recommend to other degens, is Multi-Chain Trenches.

My workflow used to look like this:

  • Open a separate browser tab for each chain
  • Set a different notification sound for each tab
  • Constantly switch back and forth, listening across all of them
  • A huge hassle — and I’d still miss trades

After Multi-Chain Trenches:

  • I can see what’s being played on every chain at a glance
  • Scanning chains finally got easy

If you’re a multi-chain memecoin hunter like me, this is the simplest, most direct tip I can give right now — turn this feature on, and your whole scanning rhythm will change completely.

FAQ

Who is @FatihaAbid?
@FatihaAbid is a memecoin trader who started around 2024 and calls himself a veteran retail "leek." He has traded on GMGN for about two years and shares two extreme trades — an accidental $60K overnight win, and a night when he lost his entire net worth.
How did @FatihaAbid make $60K overnight?
While traveling in Shanghai, he bought a coin on a whim before bed. A friend woke him in the middle of the night, and he found it had already made him about $60K — a pure windfall. His takeaway: sometimes it is worth leaving a near-zero coin sitting as a small lottery ticket rather than selling it.
What was @FatihaAbid's biggest loss?
On the night of the papal conclave, he lost his entire net worth by repeatedly buying SOL-priced coins "like play money" until it hit zero. Since then he keeps less money on-chain, which reduces both the risk of getting hacked and the chance of tilting his whole stack away again.
Which GMGN feature does @FatihaAbid recommend?
Multi-Chain Trenches. It replaced his old workflow of opening a separate browser tab per chain with different alert sounds; now he can see what is active across every chain at a glance, which makes cross-chain scanning much easier.
